Computer Lab

Welcome to the Computer Lab!

WCE has some onsite computers as well as iPads for students to learn to use technology! Students use the computers to work on various skills, such as Reading, Writing, Report Research, Math, Science and Typing skills. Some of the programs we use are Accelerated Reader, Lexia, Moby Max, and Dance Mat Typing. Below is a quick summary of each of the programs we use most often.

Accelerated Reader (commonly called AR)

AR is a program where students can test to check their understanding of books they can check out at school. It is free to use, but students must know their login information to use this program. Students can read an AR book (many are found at the WCE Library) & then take a 5-10 question test on that book to earn AR points. The points can earn them prizes or even the chance to participate at the AR Party towards the end of the school year.

Lexia Reading

Lexia is a program that provides essential reading skills such as phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. Lexia is provided by WCE for its students to use, but each students must know their login information to use this program. Each level has various activities for the students to complete. As they complete the activities, they move up a level. Students can earn certificates for completing levels.

Moby Max

Moby Max is a program with activities for students to work on a variety of skills. There are Reading and Language activities as well as Math and Science activities. WCE also provides this software for its students, so it is free for our students to use, but each student must know their login information to use Moby Max.

Dance Mat Typing

Dance Mat is a free online program that anyone can use to brush up on their typing skills. We are pleased to be able to have the students from 3rd grade up use this as typing is a very important skill. Students do not need a login. They simply need to pick the Level and Stage to start. We encourage them to repeat levels to get stronger in their skills, rather than racing through each level quickly. Typing is a great advantage when it comes time to test.
