About the Chess Club

The Chess Club is open to all students at William Collier Elementary School.  We meet on Thursdays from 1:45 to 3:00 in Room 507.  Students do not have to know how to play chess to join.  All materials are provided.  The club has free admission.

Students who participate in the Chess Club learn chess strategies, algebraic notation, geometry, how to think ahead, and how to have fun while playing the game of chess.  The Chess Club also prepares students for the ALL-DISTRICT CHESS TOURNAMENT later on in the year.

I like to keep the number of participants at 30.  Students who wish to join after September will have their names placed on a waiting list.

For more information, please contact Jim Gibbs.
